Throat Chakra Blend
The throat chakra allows us to communicate, to sing. These herbs help bring relief to a dry throat and empower you to speak your truth.
Flavor Profile:
Mint and Thyme forward with sweetness from the tulsi.
Herb Information:
*Marshmallow Leaf: A soothing, mucilaginous herb that relieves a dry throat
*Tulsi: An antimicrobial herb known for counteracting physical and emotional stress
*Spearmint: A cooling herb to relieve a scratchy throat
*Thyme: An antiseptic, antifungal herb that is especially helpful to treat bronchial issues
Brewing Instructions:
Prepare a cold infusion. Place 2 tsp herbs in a glass bowl or jar with a lid, or a ceramic teapot with a lid. Pour room temperature water over the herbs and place in the fridge overnight. A cold infusion captures the mucilaginous quality of the marshmallow leaf, letting it soothe a dry throat.
This tea can also be prepared as a hot infusion, which will release more of the volatile oils in the spearmint and thyme that help heal a red, scratchy throat due to a virus. Bring water to a boil, turn off heat, add water to vessel and place lid over it, steep for at least 20 minutes.
Kristina’s Preparation Recommendations:
If I’m noticing that I’m suffering from environmental allergies and I’m frequently waking up with a dry throat, I’ll prepare the cold infusion overnight and will drink a large glass in the morning—a wonderful way to start the day. If my throat is feeling irritated and scratchy, I’ll prepare a hot infusion and will add a spoonful of raw honey.
